Kearsley Train Station: Emergency services called to tracks

Emergency services were called to the station at around 4.30pm yesterday afternoon.

British Transport Police and the North West Ambulance attended but the individual was pronounced dead.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police confirmed a file would be prepared for the coroner.

They said: “We were called to Kearsley station shortly before 4.30pm yesterday, Sunday (21 July) following reports of casualty on the tracks.

“Officers attended along with paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Trains were suspended as an investigation into the death took place.

The station was cordoned off with forensics on the scene.
