Bikes believed to have been stolen outside Walkden shop

Police reported on the evening of Friday July 5 that the bikes had been stolen from outside a shop in Walkden earlier that same day.

Officers say that they found the bikes in some bushes not long after.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Sgt Matthews has been working with the owners’ families of the two bikes that were stolen from outside a shop in Walkden earlier today.

“Sgt Matthews and the rest of the neighbourhood policing team assisted the victims and together, using some great detective work, they ended up locating and recovering the two bikes from some bushes in Boothstown.

“These bikes were left insecure outside the shop while their owners popped in.

“The owners were only inside for a few moments and by the time they had come out the bikes were long gone.

“We advise that all owners of pedal bikes to please secure them when unattended as it only takes thieves a few seconds to hop on and cycle off and it can be quite a challenge to locate pedal bikes and return them to their rightful owners.”
