Bolton: Courts deal with assault, drug offences and possession of axe

Magistrates have dealt with a variety of offences including possession of an axe, assaults and possession of drugs.

Here are the people who have been in court.

Luke Weaver attacked a woman in Bolton in May this year.

Earlier the same month he damaged a window pane at a Bolton at Home property.

He caused £100 worth of damage.

The 45-year-old admitted assault and criminal damage at Manchester Magistrates Court.

Following this Weaver, from Cow Lees, Westhoughton, was placed on a community order to last for a year.

He was ordered to an alcohol treatment programme for six months, attend at 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days and was fined £100.

Lee Atkinson was in possession of amphetamine in Bolton last month.

The 35-year-old admitted the offence at Bolton Magistrates Court.

Following this Atkinson, from Oxford Grove, Deane, was fined £120.

The court also ordered forfeiture and destruction of the amphetamine.

Martin Hopkinson was in possession of an axe on Derby Street, Bolton, in March this year.

The 37-year-old admitted the offence at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court.

Following this Hopkinson, from Mercia Street, Deane, Bolton, was jailed for a period of 26 weeks.

The reasons given was that the offence was “so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified” and also his record.

Ricky McGregor drove a Peugeot on Rochdale Road, Manchester, above the drink drive limit.

On the same road he failed to stop after a road accident.

The damage was to the rear end of a Toyota vehicle.

McGregor, from St James Street, Farnworth, was breathalysed and found to have 219 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 80.

The 46-year-old admitted driving above the limit and failing to stop at Manchester Magistrates Court.

Following this he was placed on a community order to last for a year.

He was ordered not to drink for a year, to do 100 hours of unpaid work and was banned from driving for four years.
